Geboren 1984 in München. Studium am Edinburgh College of Art BA Film. Ab 2010-2017 Kamerastudium an der Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film in München. 2016 ist Julian mit AGONIE für den Camerimage Cinematographers Debuts Award nominiert und 2017 wird er mit seinem Abschlussfilm LUFT für den First Steps Michael-Ballhaus-Kamerapreis nominiert. Mit OUR WILDEST DREAMS gewinnt er 2017 den Best Cinematography Award auf dem Rhode Island Int. Film Festival. Im Sommer 2018 wird ALLES IST GUT mit einem Goldenen Leoparden für ‘Best First Feature’ auf dem Locarno Film Festival ausgezeichnet. 2019 gewinnt HI, AI den Max-Ophüls Preis und wird für den Deutschen Filmpreis nominiert. 2022 bekommt Julian den Deutschen Kamerapreis für die dokumentarische Serie DIG DEEPER verliehen. Julian lebt in München und Berlin. Er ist Mitglied im Bundesverband Kinematografie (bvk), der Europäischen Filmakademie und der Deutschen Filmakademie.
